Jamie + Dylan’s Joshua Tree National Park Vows | California

It wasn’t Jamie and Dylan’s first choice to exchange their vows in Joshua Tree National Park. It wasn’t even their 3rd choice. So many things had to happen to get us to this day. COVID, wildfires, venue changes, a courthouse wedding, and travel advisories got us here – and boy, was I grateful.

Jamie has an eye for aesthetics like y’all wouldn’t believe. When she chose an intimate elopement, she chose to put her effort into the decor and it was absolutely magical. I even had a seat at the table *insert Kim K crying face* with the rest of the group.

They started the day by getting ready together. Jamie brushed her teeth in the kitchen and made 11 different sandwiches for herself. Vanessa (our florist) set up an incredible table scape with flowers galore.

Jamie had planned to surprise Dylan with the arrival of his brother and his family. Dylan’s niece is one of his favorite people on earth, so having her there was really important to him, but he was under the impression they wouldn’t be able to make it. During his portrait session, his niece came running up to him for the biggest hug. Homeboy cried. We all saw.

After that, the group headed out to Joshua Tree National Park for the first look & vows. Jamie was glittery and glowing in the midday sun and they got to share their first moment together. Once Vanessa had their florals set up at the ceremony location, Jamie and Dylan exchanged their vows with an amazing background of yuccas, rocks and flowers. Jamie surprised Dylan with a new wedding band, since his old one had gotten scratched over the 2 years he had it.

After that, we explored the park during golden hour and watched the full moon rise above our heads. My favorite sight.

We ended the night snuggling dogs, Jamie and Dylan and their friends made a home cooked meal, and we shared laughs and tears and kisses. It was pure magic.
